Eco-Friendly Practices
We try to run our business in an environmentally conscious way, though we're a small operation with limited resources.
Materials
We primarily use PLA filament, which is made from plant-based materials like corn starch. It's biodegradable under the right conditions and generally more eco-friendly than traditional petroleum-based plastics. When appropriate for a project, we also use recycled PETG filament.
We source materials from suppliers who prioritize sustainable practices when possible, though options can be limited in the 3D printing space.
Waste and Efficiency
We plan prints carefully to minimize material waste and failed prints. Print scraps and support structures are collected for recycling when feasible. We batch similar jobs together to reduce energy consumption from repeated heating cycles.
Packaging
We use recycled cardboard boxes and biodegradable or recycled packing materials whenever possible. We keep packaging minimal to reduce waste.
Our Approach
We're not perfect, and we don't have all the answers. As a small business, we're doing what we can within our means to reduce our environmental impact. We're always learning and looking for ways to improve our practices.
